16ft timber SAILING DINGHY - LAZY E (National E)

16ft Lazy E sailing dinghy. Hull number 160. Comes on a currently registered trailer with 2 near new tyres. This has been a great little sailer, and I have taken her out in Moreton Bay around the Cleveland area. Easy enough to sail solo, best with two, and can take up to four. She is of full timber construction, as the early Lazy E's were, and she certainly has character. She has a full set of sails and all rigging. I am selling her as I haven't sailed for a couple of years due to shoulder issues, and a general lack of time. For these reasons, I have not been able to complete the little bit of non-major work to get her back in the water. To be fair to you as a prospective buyer, a list of work required: repaint open cabin surfaces; strap new covered foam flotation to inner hull below side-seats; refix stern seat to hull; replace or refinish a section of ply to part of starboard deck (see attached photo). Really just a weekend's work to the handy person, and very much well-worth the effort to bring a classic boat back to form. I would age her from the late 60's, the first Lazy E was built in 1962 by Jack Holt.
A little history from the National E website...
The National E (Lazy E) was designed by Jack Holt in 1962 to meet a growing demand for a fast stable boat. It embodies the experience gained from his earlier successes, the GP14 and the Enterprise. It has been said the National E “combines the virtues of both, the vices of neither, and far better performance than both”. Over 560 sail numbers have been issued to date in Australia. Generally rated as an intermediate/senior racing yacht the National E is versatile in a wide range of water and weather conditions, and performs well in mixed fleets off a yardstick of 113. A very stable boat the “E” is forgiving for the novice, and is easily launched from the beach because of a reasonably high freeboard and pivoting centreboard and rudder making launching safe even in moderate surf. The National E will plane well, reaching in a breeze. Minimum racing crew is 2, but more can be accommodated when cruising.
